Storage and transport
– One of the main problems with oranges, and a key storage factor, is their loss of water after harvesting. Transpiration can be reduced by maintaining low temperatures (ideally 3-8ºC) and high relative humidity (95%). This also reduces the growth of pathogens, thereby extending the life of the fruit.
– During transport, temperature must temperatures must be kept at about 5°C and relative humidity at approximately 85-95%. Care must be taken to leave enough space between the pallets, walls and ceiling to enable the cold air to circulate correctly.
Packaging
– We can cater for special packaging requirements.
